Chelsea boots and fedora frenzy

Fedora & boots - Boohoo
Shirt - Tu (Sainsbury's)
Jeans - Pull & Bear

Firstly I apologise for the awful lighting in these snaps; I'm still new to this photography malarkey!

I was having a wardrobe clear out the other day and came across this pink shirt from my work experience days 2 or 3 years back. I thought I'd throw it on with my black jeans and tan Chelsea boots and I'm pleasantly surprised with how the outfit came together.

My Favourite Shirt

Fedora - Boohoo
Shirt - Missguided
Jeggings - Internacionale
Boots - New Look

I'M BACK!!! I'm so sorry I've been away for so long; exams got the better of me. I hope you haven't forgotten about me!

I've been wanting to share this shirt with you for what feels like forever. I realise it's not really appropriate for the weather in the UK right now (isn't it gorgeous?) but I've been keeping it on standby for those chillier days.

I just love the combination of the black and green, which looks so much brighter when the sun's shining on it! And of course no outfit of mine is complete any more without my trusty fedora!

Pairing pastels and black

Fedora & Jumper - Boohoo
Jeans - Pull & Bear
Boots - New Look

We've reached that point in the year where it's really sunny but not quite warm enough to completely ditch the Autumn clothing. This jumper is perfect for this weather as it's quite thin and fairly oversized. It's also a gorgeous apricot shade.

I really like the contrast between pastel colours and black so I decided to go all black on the rest of my outfit. Plus, my dear old fedora is back again!

The Ultimate Smoothie

I know this post is completely unrelated to what I usually write about but I just had to share it with you. My brother bought me a blender for Christmas and I've been experimenting with different concoctions of fruits and vegetables and I've finally worked out the perfect blend! The magic ingredients (shown below) are kale, spinach, coconut milk and pineapple juice. Now I know what you're thinking: is this girl crazy?! It sounds disgusting but I genuinely love the taste of it!

I use one cup of kale, one cup of spinach (make sure you really pack the veg in), two cups of coconut milk and three cups of pineapple juice. The important thing with this smoothie is to blend it thoroughly; you don't want any lumps of kale floating around! I tend to put the veg and coconut milk in first, blend them together, and then add the juice and blend it again.

So here is the finished product! I usually make this around 11am as a mid-morning boost; it really does give you a great buzz! What's your favourite smoothie?

Style Crush: Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale)

For those of you that don't watch the show, Lucy Hale plays a character called Aria Montgomery on Pretty Little Liars. I would attempt to sum up what it's about in a sentence but I don't think that's possible. What I will say is that it's both an equally amazing and frustrating tv show to watch!

One thing that really stands out about it though is how stylish all of the characters are, particularly Aria in my opinion. She has a very chic fashion sense, wearing lots of skirts and dresses and I just love how she's not afraid to mix prints!

There are plenty of websites that will tell you where you can buy the pieces that the actors wear but of course they are extremely pricey. So I've attempted to put together an outfit that Lucy wore on the most recent season using much cheaper items. Hope you enjoy!

This outfit is from episode 5x24 and I just love how effortlessly stylish it looks. The closest pieces I could find at low prices are featured below.

The shoes Lucy wore weren't shown in this episode but I bet this outfit would look great with a pair of black chunky wedged heels to team up with the grungy skirt. I also think the t-shirt featured in the picture of the skirt would go really well and the font is very similar to the writing on Lucy's t-shirt but I couldn't find it anywhere on the site!

Liebster Award

I'll start by saying a big thank you to Paige for nominating me to do the Liebster Award tag! I've heard great things about this tag so I'm very excited to be taking part. Make sure you check out Paige's blog!

The rules for the Liebster Award tag are as follows:
  1. Thank and link back to the blogger who nominated you.
  2. Nominate 11 bloggers who have less than 200 follows who you believe deserve the award and include their links.
  3. Answer the 11 questions posted by the blogger who nominated you and ask your nominees 11 questions.
  4. Notify your nominees!
My answers to the 11 questions Paige posted:

1. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years time I'll be 30 so I hope by then I will have a stable career that I thoroughly enjoy and possibly own my own home (wishful thinking!). Other than that I hope that most aspects of my life remain the same; I hope that I'm happy and still having fun with my friends and family.

2. Is blogging more of a job or a hobby for you?

It's entirely a hobby for me. I started this blog with the intention of having some fun and sharing my own personal style and this will only ever be something I do in my spare time.

3. If you could only use three beauty products for the rest of your life, what would they be?

This is a tough one! My most used products are mascara (obviously!), eyeliner and concealer so if I had to choose I'd pick Maybelline Great Lash Mascara, Rimmel Soft Kohl Black Eyeliner and Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Having said that, if I was only allowed three products for the rest of my life I might invest in some slightly more expensive items!

4. When did you start your blog? Why?

I like the sneaky extra question that's been thrown in here! I intended to start my blog at the beginning of last summer as I had a few months off uni. However I didn't end up starting it until February of this year. I just really enjoyed reading other fashion and beauty blogs and I had lots of ideas for potential posts so I thought it was about time I started having my own say.

5. Are there any makeup mishaps you used to do that make you cringe now?

I wish I could say no but everyone has to go through that rookie stage, right? (I'm probably still in mine...) One thing that comes to mind is how terrible I was at winged eyeliner; I'm pretty sure I had massive gaps between my lash line and the eyeliner.

6. What is your must have accessory?

I'm actually not that mad on accessories; I'll happily go without jewellery, usually because I get ready in a rush and don't have time to throw any on. One thing I do think really completes an outfit though is nail polish, if you can count that as an accessory.

7. How would you describe your style?

I like to think that the clothes I wear don't fit a particular style as I love wearing dresses and skirts but also band tshirts and plaid shirts. Overall though I'd say I probably have quite a chic dress sense as my favourite kinds of clothes to wear are skater skirts and dresses and I love pastel colours.

8. What niche did you pick for your blog and why? (e.g. lifestyle, fashion etc.)

I named my blog after my love of dresses and originally intended on it being almost exclusively about fashion but lately I've been posting quite a bit about beauty so I'd say my blog fits into both of these categories equally.

9. If you could pick anywhere in the world to spend the rest of your life, where would it be and why?

This is the toughest question yet. Realistically I'd choose somewhere in the country such as London or possibly Brighton as I wouldn't want to move away from my family and friends. If I could literally live anywhere (and take them all with me!) I'd probably live in Sweden as I really admire the culture over there and it looks like a beautiful country.

10. What is your favourite childhood memory?

I'm very fortunate to be able to say I have a lot of fantastic childhood memories. The one that springs to mind is camping with my family as a young child; we went camping all over the UK and I got to see so many beaches and have amazing days out and barbecues in the evening. It isn't often said but the UK really is a lovely place to holiday.

11. What is something we don't know about you?

I hope that you've learned a bit about me that you didn't already know from the previous questions. Something you perhaps didn't know about me is that I'm a huge fan of rock music and going to see bands live is my favourite thing to do. I'd love to hear from you if you're into a similar kind of music!

I nominate the following 11 blogs for the Liebster Award tag:
  1. The Color Palette
  2. All Death by Diamonds
  3. Makeup, Music and Fashion
  4. Music Geek Online
  5. She Will Be
  6. All My Own Stunts
  7. Debby Boo Vlogs
  8. Always Rains Glitter
  9. Infinity of Fashion
  10. The Classy Fancy
  11. Fashionale
Your 11 questions are:
  1. What is your favourite blog to read at the moment?
  2. Which tv show are you hooked on right now?
  3. Who is your biggest inspiration?
  4. How did you come up with the name of your blog?
  5. Which social media do you use the most and why?
  6. What is your greatest achievement so far?
  7. If you could change one thing about the world what would it be?
  8. Which of your blog posts are you most proud of?
  9. Which item in your wardrobe can you not stop wearing?
  10. What is your favourite place you have visited?
  11. Is there anything you don't like about blogging?
Please comment below when you have answered the questions and I'll check them out!

Mini Lush Haul

It was my birthday yesterday (I reached the ripe old age of 20!) and my mother got me a few bath bombs from Lush. I have the worst sense of smell in the world so she picked out products that focus on the visual side of things rather than scent. Once again I apologise for the lack of posts, I promise this will improve over the summer!

From left to right: Mother Superior Bubble Bar, Fizzbanger Bath Ballistic, Space Girl Bath Ballistic, Hoppity Poppity Bath Bomb

Mother Superior Bubble Bar

This product is used a little at a time by crumbling a piece under running water. It turns your bath water a lovely shade of blue.

Fizzbanger Bath Ballistic

As the name suggests, this bath bomb puts on quite a display! It contains popping candy to give your ears a treat and turns your bath water into frothy shades of bright green and yellow.

Space Girl Bath Ballistic

This bomb produces a shade of violet and contains glitter to make your bath extra sparkly.

Hoppity Poppity Bath Bomb

I love anything animal-shaped so this one is by far my favourite before it goes in the water. I've heard this one has a very strong scent, it also fizzes and releases popping candy, leaving your bath water looking very pink.

My Everyday Makeup Bag

I apologise for not posting for a couple of weeks; unfortunately I've had a lot of uni work to do so that had to take priority. I thought I'd come back with a fairly simple post and show you which makeup products I wear every day (or at least on the days I am wearing makeup!) You'll instantly notice how affordable the products I use are, as I am on a student budget, but I really like them.

  1. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
  2. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in #005 Silky Beige
  3. No.7 Shine Free Primer (forgot to include in the photo, sorry!)
  4. Sleek Au Naturel 601 Eye Shadow Palette (shades Toast and Noir)
  5. Rimmel Soft Kohl White Eye Liner Pencil
  6. Maybelline Great Lash Brownish Black Mascara
  7. Sleek Face Contour Kit Light
You may be surprised that I don't use a liquid foundation and this is partly because I'm lazy and thankfully have fairly clear skin and partly because I'm still on the hunt for a new one! I hope you enjoyed this post, check back soon as I'll be sharing a couple of new outfit posts.

My Skincare Routine

After the positive reaction I had from my last post I thought I'd write another advice post, except this time about skincare. I mostly have oily skin but it can get quite dry in places so overall I'd consider it to be combination. I've found that the following products work well for that type of skin.

1. Exfoliant

I cannot speak highly enough of the St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I tend to use it every other day in the shower when I am washing my hair. It comes out in a paste and you only need to use a tiny amount so it lasts for ages. I really like the way it makes my skin feel tight and I've definitely noticed my skin has been clearer since I started using it.

2. Cleansing Wipes

I've actually only been using these for a few months as previously I was using Simple Cleansing Lotion. The wipes are slightly more expensive as you use them up quicker but I think they're worth it because it's so much easier just to pull one out of the packet. I love how soft they make my skin feel and they're just so convenient if you've had a long day and can't bothered to wash your face.

3. Toner

For the final stage of my routine I apply a small amount of toner to a cotton pad and just gently wipe it around my face. It helps to ensure I've got all of the cleanser off and I like the feeling it leaves on my skin once it has dried.

So that is my skincare routine! It might surprise you that I don't use moisturiser but my skin can get quite oily and I usually only apply it if I'm wearing foundation. You may try this routine out and hate it but if you do I really hope it works for you as well as it does for me!

Essential Stores

Looking around for the perfect pair of jeans or the best quality coat can feel like an impossible task. I know plenty of people, including myself, who have spent months looking for something and ended up either giving in or settling for something they’re not entirely happy with. So I thought I’d mention a couple of stores that I find myself running back to in these times of need.

Firstly, I think I can speak for everyone when I say that hunting for a pair of jeans is no easy task. You want a pair that is good quality, well-fitting and comfy without breaking the bank. If there is any store on this earth that I can rely on in this situation, it’s New Look. Their jeans section is incredibly vast for one, so you can feel fairly confident that they’re going to have the type of jeans that you’re looking for. I bought a pair of black skinny jeans from New Look about 5 years ago and have only recently had to throw them out when a small hole appeared on the inside leg. Not only were they incredibly long-lasting but they fitted well and, as you can imagine for an item that I wear so frequently, they were comfy. At prices starting from around £15 (mine were £18 if I remember correctly), you really can’t go wrong with New Look jeans.

Blue super skinny New Look jeans
These are the current pair of New Look jeans I own and they fit like a glove (flats from Peacocks).

The other store that I HAVE to give a mention to is Peacocks, which may surprise you. They may not have the greatest, most fashionable range of shoes but they are the comfiest lower-end shoes I have ever worn. If I'm ever in desperate need of a new pair of flats I head straight to Peacocks, they're surprisingly well-padded which is a must have when it comes to flats. While they may not be the most long-lasting choice for footwear, you definitely can’t do much better if you're looking for something cheap and comfortable.
So these are just a couple of stores that have become favourites of mine but I would love to hear from you, which stores do you find yourself running back to?

Lace Mint Green Dress

Lace mint green skater dress and black leather jacket

Lace mint green skater dress and black leather jacket

Lace mint green skater dress and black leather jacket

Leather jacket - Topshop
Dress - Quiz
Wedge boots - New Look
Clutch - Primark
Jewellery - Matalan

I'll be honest, I didn't actually wear this outfit on the day I took the photos. I've actually only worn it once which was to my sixth form leavers boat party but I thought it was a great piece for my first post.

Mint green is one of my all time favourite colours and I love how the black leather complements it. I also threw on some fashion necklaces at the last second and I'm not entirely sure whether I like them or if it's a little too much. What do you think?

P.S. This is my first OOTD and I wasn't sure how to pose for the photos so I don't normally look this miserable!

Hey there, potential readers! I have decided to give this fashion blogging thing a try as I have some free time on my hands and I think this will be a pretty fun way to use it. I would describe my fashion taste as girly with an edge, without sounding too pretentious. My wardrobe is full of dresses (hence the title) but I also wear a lot of band tees. I’m hoping to give you some insight into the kind of content you can expect from me by following up this intro with an OOTD. My aim is to post at least once a week, so I’d be eternally grateful if you gave me a follow.
